Background: Dr. Nichols was born and raised in Ft. Myers, Florida and recently returned to her hometown after many years away attending the University of Florida and working in the Central Florida area. As a veterinarian, Dr. Nichols is particularly interested in canine and feline rescue work and currently serves on the medical board for Florida Boxer Rescue and Boxer Rescue Angels of Florida. Dr. Nichols also works as an onsite veterinarian at the Animal Refuge Center (ARC), the largest no-kill shelter/sanctuary in Florida with over 500 dog and cat residents on the property. As co-owner of Islandside Animal Hospital, Dr. Nichols is proud to offer high quality care at reasonable prices to pet owners in Northwest Cape Coral and surrounding areas.
Family/Pets: Dr. Nichols shares her home and her heart with her husband and daughter along with her two dogs: Pickles and Ella, and one cat: Rose.
Hobbies/Interests: Dr. Nichols enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, kayaking and traveling.
Mike Braun DVMVeterinarian

Background: Dr. Braun grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At a young age, he discovered that he was passionate about caring for animals. Dr. Braun has over six years of experience working in the veterinary field prior to becoming a veterinarian. His professional interests include: preventative care, internal medicine and dentistry. Dr. Braun grew up vacationing in Southwest Florida and is proud to now service Cape Coral and it’s surrounding communities.
Family/Pets: Dr. Braun shares his home with his wife, Kristin, their two weimaraners, Stella and Luna and two clownfish, Skipper and Rico.
Hobbies/Interests: Dr. Braun enjoys spending time outdoors. He loves paddle boarding, boating, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Dr. Braun likes to explore with his wife and their dogs - whether thats finding new hiking trails to dog-friendly restaurants. He is a passionate sports fan. Dr. Braun follows his hometown Minnesota teams and Manchester United.

Background: Dr. German has worked in the Veterinary field since 2006. She wanted to become a vet since she was 5 years old taking care of lizards in her back yard. She grew up in Bessemer, AL. She has a special interest in exotics, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine.
Family/pets: She is blessed to be married to her wonderful husband, Josh. They have two amazing children, Lucas and Ella. They also have 2 dogs, Squish and Sam, one cat, Solarquest, two Guinea pigs, Rapunzel and Tiana, and one bearded dragon, Nyx.
Hobbies/special interests: Dr. German loves spending time with family and friends. Her kids are very active in sports so she is at the gym or fields a lot and wouldn't change it for the world. She also enjoy reading, singing, and swimming. They are also Disney fanatics and love roller coasters.

Background: Autumn fell into the veterinary world in 2007 when she picked up a side job in College as a receptionist for a low-income veterinary hospital. She discovered her love for veterinary medicine and decided to
pursue a career in the field. She has worked as a technician in a variety of practices. She has worked with high and low cost canine and feline practices, and has even worked with exotics like kangaroos, eagles, snakes, and many more. Most recently she was a lead emergency technician for a specialty and emergency hospital in the Space Coast area of Florida. Autumn and Dr. Nichols met back in 2009 when working in a practice together. They formed a solid friendship and decided that one day they would open a practice together where they could practice the type of medicine they felt Clients and their pets deserved! Islandside Animal Hospital is the product of that dream.
Family/Pets: Autumn lives with her Husband, who is her high school sweetheart. They have 4 animals. 2 dogs, Zelda - Border Collie mix, and August - German Shepherd mix and 2 cats: Jenny and Isobel.
Hobbies/Interests: Autumn loves watching sports. She is a huge Denver Broncos and Florida State Seminoles fan. She also roots for Orlando City Soccer and she frequents home games with her Husband. She enjoys traveling, reading, playing video games, and cooking.
Kayleigh L.Veterinary Technician
Education: Studied Veterinary Technology at Penn Foster College
Background: Kayleigh grew up in Upstate New York and has been a Veterinary Technician for over 6 years. It was only recently she decided she had her share of the frigid weather and headed here to the Sunshine State and lives locally in Cape Coral. She loves working with people just as much as all the furry friends she meets.
Family/Pets: Kayleigh shares her home and her bed with her little 'mutty' named Sheldon she adopted from a local rescue group, and two very independent kitties named Tinsel (naughty) and Tyrion (mama's boy).
Hobbies/Interests: She loves going on daily runs with Sheldon, attending live music, paddle boarding, boat days, and just sitting in and watching a good movie.
Grace P.Veterinary Technician
Education: A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Heritage Institute (2015)
Background: Grace grew up in New York and relocated to FL in her early teen years. She began working in a shelter as a teenager and started out as a kennel technician. Grace moved up the ranks and began working at a high-volume spay and neuter clinic as a surgery technician.
Family/Pets: Grace has a large mutt named 'Mister' who is the 'Best Dog in the World' (according to Grace), a sweet kitty named 'Tripsy', and another cat named Forrest Gump who decides daily whether he feels like being sweet or not.
Hobbies/Interests: When she isn't working Grace enjoys yoga, running, walking dogs, and hanging out with friends and her pets.
Danielle (Dani) G.Veterinary Technician
Education: Bachelor's in Marine Science from Eckerd College
Background: Dani grew up in central Massachusetts, but moved to Florida when she turned 18 to escape the snow. She has been working in animal care since 2007, originally pursuing a career as a dog trainer. She is currently a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge and Skills Assessed issued by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. During her path to dog training, she worked at a small practice in Naples for about 6 years. After taking a step back from the veterinary world for a year to pursue raining full-time, she decided she missed working in a veterinary clinical setting and decided to come back to the field.
Family/Pets: Dani shares her home with Athena, an 11 yr. old Chow mix who loves everyone, LinZee an 8(ish) year old Papillon who likes to hear herself talk, and Caroline, a 3 yr. old Dachsund/Jack Russell/Chihuahua Mix who she was only supposed to foster for 2 days....which was 3 years ago.
Hobbies/Interests: Dani's current interests include Kayaking and Dog Agility training.
Emily Q.Veterinary Technician
Education: Currently a student at Penn Foster for an A.S. in Veterinary Technology
Background: Emily was born and raised in Southwest Florida. She has always loved animals and has owned and taken care of animals since she was young. She started her career as a kennel technician at a low cost spay and neuter clinic and has obtained a true passion for animal welfare ever since getting into the veterinary medicine industry.
Family/Pets: Emily shares her home with her husband and her 3 'Fur-babies': A bob-tailed cat named Jiggly Puff, a shy and snuggly Border Collie named Cali, and a mama cat she rescued she named...well...Mama Cat.
Hobbies/Interests: In her free time Emily enjoys going to the dog park, spending time with her family and friends, and painting.
James B.Veterinary Technician
Education: BA in Criminal Justice from FGCU
Background: James grew up in Boston, Mass where he lived for 19 years. He moved to Florida about 7 years ago to help take care of his family. His first experience in working with animals was 2 years ago when he started volunteering at the Animal Refuge Center (ARC) for volunteer hours through FGCU. After he graduated from FGCU, James began working full-time at ARC in January 2017 and has worked part-time with us at Islandside Animal Hospital since October 2017.
Family/Pets: James shares his home with his 5 dogs. Penny is a 9 yr. old Dachshund mix who was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri. Oreo is a 6 yr. old Lab mix that was rescued with her siblings in Miami. Haley is a 5 yr. old Rottweiler mix who was found as a stray when she was 2 months old. Sally is a 3 yr. old Bloodhound mix that was adopted from ARC, and Claire is a 6 month old Terrier mix that he fostered during Hurricane Irma but couldn't bring himself to give her back up after the storm.
Hobbies/Interests: James enjoys the outdoors, whether it is fishing, hiking, or just exploring. He enjoys spending time with his dogs and taking them to dog parks and socializing them. He also loves watching sports, especially football and baseball. He roots for every Philadelphia and New England sports team.
